LSU injuries update dominated the aftermath of the Tigers’ 32-24 loss at Ole Miss in Oxford on Saturday night, with key contributors Dashawn Spears and Trey’Dez Green suffering knee injuries, according to team and family updates.
LSU injuries update: Spears sidelined for the season
An MRI on Sunday confirmed that standout defensive back Dashawn Spears sustained a season-ending ACL injury, according to sources. The junior had emerged as a first-year full-time starter and had recently drawn attention from NFL scouts as a potential prospect for next year’s draft.
Tight end Trey’Dez Green to miss time
Star tight end Trey’Dez Green is expected to miss games after an apparent knee injury, but he avoided ligament damage, according to a Facebook post from his mother. She wrote that surgery will not be required and described the setback as involving “some bad sprains and bruises.”
“He will miss some games and that’s OK. Most importantly is getting better. Everything will fall in place,” she wrote.
It remains unclear how long Green, considered a first-round NFL draft prospect, will be out.
Coach reaction and next opponent
After the game, LSU coach Lane Kiffin said neither injury “seemed very well,” and he did not provide further updates during a Sunday media call. The No. 10 Tigers return home to face No. 23 Texas A&M on Saturday.
