What We Publish

Our aim is simple. Give readers a fast, clear picture of the day’s news without hype and without wasting their time.
How We Source Our News
The Trade Wind is primarily a news aggregation service. We monitor established news organisations, wire services and official government sources, and we surface the stories we judge to be most relevant to our readers.
Every article we publish credits its original source and links back to it. We encourage readers to follow those links and read the original reporting in full.
Our sources include national broadcasters and newspapers, non-profit newsrooms, and primary sources such as federal agencies and the courts. We do not knowingly source from sites that publish fabricated or unverified content.
How Our Newsroom Works
Every story we publish originates with a professional newsroom. We credit the original publisher and link to their reporting in every article we run.
We monitor news feeds around the clock using automated tools, which is how we are able to cover a wide range of national news quickly and publish throughout the day. Editorial decisions about what we run, how it is presented and what we correct are made by our team.
We do not fabricate quotes or facts, and we do not use generated imagery to depict real events or real people. Where an image is illustrative rather than a photograph of the event described, we do not present it as documentary evidence.
Accuracy and Corrections
We work to publish accurate information, and we recognise that mistakes happen. When they do, we fix them.
If you believe something we have published is inaccurate, incomplete or misleading, email us at aloha@thetradewind.org with the article link and what you believe is wrong. We review every message we receive.
When we correct a factual error, we update the article and note what changed. We do not quietly delete or rewrite stories to hide mistakes.
Where a story we have aggregated is later corrected or retracted by its original publisher, we update or remove our version accordingly.
Editorial Independence
The Trade Wind is independently owned. No advertiser, sponsor or outside party has any say over what we publish or how we cover a story.
We aim to present news fairly and without partisan slant. Our sources span a range of perspectives, and we select stories on news value rather than political alignment.
Opinion and Analysis
Where we publish opinion, commentary or analysis, we label it clearly so it is not mistaken for straight news reporting.
