Black Rock Pizza Kona cleared to reopen after inspection

Black Rock Pizza Kona has been authorized to reopen after a follow-up inspection, according to the state Health Department.

Health officials closed the Kailua-Kona pizzeria at Coconut Marketplace on Alii Drive on July 8 with a red placard due to an active rodent infestation. The department said the business completed all required corrective measures and has now received a green placard.

Black Rock Pizza Kona corrective actions

  • Discard all contaminated food products.
  • Have a licensed pest control operator service the establishment and submit the service report to the Department of Health.
  • Seal all holes in walls and ceilings.
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect all food-contact and non-food-contact surfaces.

Black Rock Pizza describes itself as a homegrown pizza chain using locally sourced ingredients. The company also operates locations in Captain Cook and in Kīhei on Maui, and has earned strong online reviews.
