Meta rolls out Muse for Small Business to integrate work apps

Muse for Small Business is Meta’s latest move to bring its new AI agent into the workplace, connecting the service to tools many companies already use.

Meta on Tuesday introduced Muse for Small Business, a feature that links its AI agent with software from Asana, Zoom, Intuit, Box, Canva and Salesforce’s Slack. The agent can also connect to Meta ad accounts and professional Instagram and Facebook profiles, according to the company.

Meta did not disclose pricing details. The company pointed to the existing Muse app, which is free with usage limits and offers subscriptions for expanded access.

The announcement follows Monday’s news that Meta will launch a new enterprise platform led by incoming executive CJ Desai, formerly CEO of MongoDB. That platform will include a Muse agent, a business agent and a coding tool.

Investor enthusiasm has been high. Meta shares rose 25% in September before easing in the last two sessions. Momentum picked up after the Sept. 8 rollout of Muse, which climbed to the top of Apple’s App Store, surpassing ChatGPT. Analyst Mark Mahaney of Evercore told CNBC he expects Muse to reach 100 million users in six to 12 months.

Muse for Small Business targets busy owners

“Give Muse a goal, like running your business or finding new customers, and it gets it done,” the company said in Tuesday’s post.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has emphasized finding business opportunities with AI after investing billions last year to recruit top talent, including Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang, who leads the company’s efforts. Wang’s team began releasing new AI models under the Muse Spark family in April.

At the Meta Connect event last week, Zuckerberg called Muse the centerpiece of the company’s AI strategy. The timing of Tuesday’s news coincides with OpenAI’s developer day, underscoring Meta’s intent to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic in the enterprise market.

Meta says it already has a deep connection with small businesses, citing 200 million that use Facebook. “Small businesses have been growing on our apps for nearly two decades,” the company said. “They told us they’re short on hours, not ideas. So we built Muse for Small Business to help get work done with the tools they already use.”
