Sarah Creal Beauty targets over-40s as industry takes note

Sarah Creal Beauty is drawing attention for designing makeup and skincare specifically for women over 40, a demographic long overshadowed by teen-focused lines, according to industry watchers.

Sarah Creal, a veteran product developer with more than three decades in global beauty and a co-creator of Victoria Beckham Beauty, set out to solve real concerns she and her peers face. At 56, she cites issues like hooded lids and reduced wear time that are often overlooked in mainstream assortments dominated by lip oils, sheet masks, and novelty trends.

Creal built a brand for mature, time-pressed women who enjoy luxury but are tired of cabinets full of products that no longer work for them.

The New York-based founder saw the buying power of a generation that may be the last to out-earn their parents. Buzz around the label’s 2024 U.S. debut led to rapid sell-through at Sephora in Manhattan.

Repeat purchases have been driven by performance rather than hype, early customers say.

Sarah Creal Beauty expands to the UK

Sarah Creal Beauty is now available at Space NK and through the brand’s website. Standout items include the Eyes Up Creamy Kajal Longwear Liners at £28, which are described as exceptionally long-wearing with no smudging, fading, or transfer for more than 12 hours.

Moisture Source, a £30 liquid moisturizer used under day cream, delivers a plump, glassy glow without greasiness. A dot of Face Flex Correct at £44 under each eye helps counter the look of perimenopausal insomnia, according to users.

Some products draw mixed reactions. The sunscreen is viewed as pricey in a very competitive category, the eye cream may pill, and those with oily skin might skip the bronzer, though it suits drier complexions.

More launches are in the pipeline, the company indicates. In a crowded beauty market, consumers are increasingly weighing product performance in the same way they evaluate other lifestyle choices, such as how they enjoy music and movies.

Industry shift toward midlife consumers

Price points are firmly in the premium bracket, but the strategy appears to be resonating. CoverGirl has said it will dial back focus on Gen Z and prioritize middle-aged shoppers.

Luxury labels that once dismissed mass retail partners are now seeking space at M&S, a favorite among many Gen X customers. In tighter economic times, brands are finding that respecting their core customer can pay off.

For Hawaiʻi consumers, where humidity and long days can test product wear, the emphasis on longevity and texture control may be especially appealing. With Sarah Creal Beauty now easier to access online and via established retailers, over-40 shoppers have new options tailored to their needs.
