According to court filings, Lieutenant Michael Vaituulala is accused of taking payments in exchange for providing protected law enforcement data to individuals involved in criminal activity. The court ruled that he will stay in federal custody as the case moves forward.
Authorities said the alleged conduct involved misuse of sensitive police information. No trial date has been announced.
