The Outshine Fruit Bars recall is prompting a warning from the Hawaii Department of Health after certain batches were found to be at risk of containing glass.

According to federal and state health officials, Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Inc. has voluntarily recalled 6-count, 2.5-ounce packages of Outshine fruit bars in strawberry, watermelon, grape, black cherry, and tangerine flavors. The recall also covers 24-count, 2.5-ounce variety packs.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said the recalled products were shipped to retailers nationwide. In Hawaii, they were distributed to Times/Don Quijote, KTA Super Stores, Walmart, Target, and other retailers.
DOH’s food and drug branch is working with local stores to remove the affected items from shelves. Residents are familiar with how quickly stores respond during other emergencies, such as when the Kaimuki roof collapse injures four elderly women, EMS says incident disrupted a neighborhood earlier this year.
A full list of recalled products, including batch codes, best-before dates, and Universal Product Codes, is available in the FDA’s recall notice. Consumers are advised to review the list before consuming any Outshine bars they have at home.
Dreyer’s said the action was taken out of an abundance of caution after consumer reports of glass in the fruit bars. The company said no injuries or illnesses have been reported.
