An e-motorcyclist was critically injured in a Punahou Street collision in Honolulu just before midnight Saturday, according to police.

Honolulu police said that around 11:50 p.m., a 65-year-old man driving north on Punahou Street allegedly made an illegal U-turn at Clark Street and struck an adult man riding an e-motorcycle.

Investigators said the rider, who has not been identified, was traveling north on Punahou Street in the southbound lanes against the flow of traffic when the crash occurred. He was ejected onto the roadway.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services took the rider to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

The driver remained at the scene and was not injured, authorities said.

Police said it is not yet known whether speed, drugs, or alcohol contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
