RISE Maui summit to spotlight regeneration and innovation

RISE Maui, organized by the Hua Momona Foundation, debuts this August as a first-of-its-kind summit focused on regeneration, innovation, and sustainability. The gathering will be held at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa and Hua Momona Farms, where attendees will take part in panel discussions, cultural programming, food, music, and hands-on experiences.

Visionaries, innovators, healers, and changemakers are slated to convene in West Maui to share insights and actionable ideas for the future. Program highlights include a keynote by computer scientist Sasha Luccioni on the intersection of AI and climate change, and a live quantum entanglement demonstration by inventor Jason Resch in conversation with Rod Roddenberry, executive producer of Star Trek.

Gary Grube, president of the Hua Momona Foundation and former chief technology officer at Motorola, will discuss the outlook for AI and resiliency. Bernard Fowler of the Rolling Stones will speak on career sustainability, and participants will have the option to visit Oliver Dukelow’s off-the-grid taro farm.

What to expect at RISE Maui Summit

Each morning begins with an energetics session on ancient chakra wisdom led by Manesha Sian, known as the Reiki Queen. On the shoreline, Maui cultural guide W. Kamaunu Kahaialii will share the islands’ origin story and the meaning of Hawaiʻi.

Chef Zach Laidlaw will provide meals throughout the summit, emphasizing fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The summit’s focus on local food systems echoes broader efforts to address food insecurity and community resilience across the islands, including initiatives such as the Honolulu food security fund.

For a limited time through July 15, all RISE Maui Summit passes include two-day VIP access to the third annual Maui Music & Food Experience at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, taking place August 21 to 22, 2026. The event features an all-star Hawaiian lineup on Friday capped by Taimane.

On Saturday, Lisa Fischer and Bernard Fowler of the Rolling Stones reunite with What Mongoose, and Los Lobos headlines to close the night. The Maui Music & Food Experience is produced in partnership with the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, which is also hosting the summit.

The summit runs August 17 to 21, 2026 at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa and Hua Momona Farms. Proceeds benefit the Hua Momona Foundation, a 501(c)(3) focused on food insecurity, water, and community resilience on Maui.
