Finding Solutions, Growing Peace Brown Bag Lunch Series
Mediator and ombudsperson Sue Theiss will lead the online session from noon to 1 p.m., presenting “Conflict Is An Opportunity: How Mediators Can Work With Discomfort.” The event will be held via Zoom and there is no cost to attend.
Participants can register online ahead of time. In announcing the program, Theiss asks, “How can you help others move through their distress towards a path of effective conflict resolution?”
The webinar will explore the dynamics of interpersonal conflict and communication choices that support resolution while easing discomfort. It is designed to give current and aspiring mediators practical tools for addressing conflicts that arise across many settings.
Theiss has more than three decades of experience providing conflict management services, including mediation and training. She has served as an ombudsperson and mediator at Seattle University, Oregon State University, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Arizona.
Ku‘ikahi’s lunch-and-learn series takes place on the third Thursday of each month. The talks are free and open to the public, supported in part by Hawai‘i County and Hawai‘i Island United Way.
