The high surf advisory canceled at noon Wednesday came as Tropical Depression Fausto continued to weaken and drift away from the Hawaiian Islands, according to National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu. With the high surf advisory canceled, conditions are easing along island shorelines.
Hawaiʻi County said all beach parks on Hawaiʻi Island are open.

Forecasters noted the system’s diminishing strength and increasing distance from the state as the reason for dropping the advisory. Residents and visitors should still use caution around the ocean, as lingering swell and strong currents can persist even after advisories end.
County officials encouraged beachgoers to heed lifeguard directions and check the latest weather and ocean updates before heading out.
