Child & Family Service Hilo will celebrate its new permanent home today with a blessing and community gathering at the agency’s expanded facility on Kīlauea Avenue.
The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 1015 Kīlauea Ave., where the nonprofit has opened a nearly 6,000-square-foot space to serve Hawaiʻi Island.
A traditional Hawaiian blessing will be followed by remarks from agency leaders and invited community officials, according to the organization.
Organizers said the blessing brings together community leaders, elected officials, donors, partners and supporters to mark the milestone and affirm the agency’s commitment to strengthening families and widening access to essential services across Hawaiʻi Island.
The more-than-$6-million facility will house services including domestic violence support, comprehensive sexual abuse treatment, mental health counseling and family resource programs for individuals and families islandwide.
In fiscal year 2025, Child & Family Service assisted 2,277 families on Hawaiʻi Island. The nonprofit has supported Hawaiʻi’s families since 1899, helping people statewide confront poverty, abuse and neglect.

With a larger, centralized site in Hilo, the agency aims to streamline access to counseling, treatment and family resources, making it easier for residents to connect with care close to home.
The new facility joins other community-focused efforts on Hawaiʻi Island, including recent events such as the Hilo gun buyback that brought together local partners and residents.
