Maui police arrest nude suspect after a 63-year-old man was found unresponsive at a Lahaina condominium resort early Wednesday, according to the Maui Police Department.
MPD said dispatchers received a call at 3:02 a.m. reporting a naked male wandering in a Kahana neighborhood. Officers located the individual about 30 minutes later, still unclothed and with multiple abrasions, and transported him to Maui Memorial Medical Center for evaluation.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a separate call from a condo-resort at 4299 Lower Honoapiilani Road regarding an unresponsive man. Paramedics pronounced the 63-year-old, identified only as a Lahaina resident, dead at the scene.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and determined that around 1:45 a.m. a naked man approached the victim’s office and, in the department’s words, “brutally attacked him” before leaving on foot. Officers concluded the nude man found in Kahana matched the individual seen in the video.
He was taken to the Wailuku Police Station and arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. The 20-year-old remained in custody Wednesday night as detectives continued their investigation and pending formal charges.
Police said the victim’s name is being withheld for at least 24 hours to allow time for family notifications.
