Nine people, including six children ages 3 to 16, were injured in an H-2 Freeway crash on the northbound side near the Ka Uka Boulevard exit, according to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.
H-2 Freeway crash injures multiple children and adults
EMS reported the collision at about 3:54 p.m. and dispatched seven units, including paramedics, emergency medical technicians and a district chief, to a two-vehicle crash that also involved an apparent assault.
Responders treated nine patients with multiple injuries and transported all of them to a trauma center, officials said.
Four males, ages 13, 15, 35 and 47, were taken to the hospital in serious condition. EMS said the two teenagers had been riding in the back of a pickup and were thrown from the vehicle.
Five others, a 33-year-old woman, two girls ages 12 and 16, and two boys ages 3 and 7, were taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to EMS.
The state Department of Transportation said three northbound lanes of the H-2 near Ka Uka Boulevard were closed for nearly two hours while EMS, police and firefighters responded.
