Maui resort riot remains under investigation after police arrested three additional teenagers tied to a July 17 disturbance at the Kaanapali Alii in Lahaina, where visitors from California reported being assaulted.
According to the Maui Police Department, officers took into custody a 14-year-old boy from Lahaina on suspicion of riot and second-degree assault, a 16-year-old boy from Wailuku on suspicion of riot and second-degree assault, and a 16-year-old boy from Lahaina on suspicion of riot.

Police said the confrontation happened around the pool area of the resort at 50 Nohea Kai Drive and involved about 30 people. Officers responded at about 10:10 p.m. and found 10 to 15 individuals still gathered near the pool, several with visible injuries, according to an earlier MPD statement.
A 20-year-old Makawao man had previously been arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and later released pending investigation.
The three juveniles were arrested Monday. Following processing, Family Court was notified and authorized their release to their parents, MPD said.
Victims, allegations, and bias review
A preliminary investigation identified seven victims from California, ages 17 to 62. They told police a large group of juveniles assaulted multiple members of their party before fleeing. The family group said juveniles threw chairs and physically attacked several people who had been gathered by the pool and barbecue area.
Members of the California group also told a local television outlet that a female in the local group threatened that they were going to beat up the haole boys before the incident.
MPD said that if investigators determine the incident was motivated by bias, including racial bias, or involved gang-related criminal activity, appropriate offenses will be pursued. Any potential federal violations will be referred to federal partners for review and possible prosecution.

Coraltree Residence Collection, which manages the Kaanapali Alii, said Monday the property is cooperating fully with authorities and referred further questions to law enforcement while the case remains open.
