Ainahau Vista II is now accepting applications for affordable senior rentals in Waikīkī, offering income-restricted units for residents age 55 and older.
The 62-unit complex at 2428 Tusitala St. includes 47 one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments and 15 studios, with three units designed for accessibility. Eligibility is limited to seniors whose annual household income does not exceed 50 percent of the Honolulu area median income, which is about $40,850 for one person or $46,650 for two people, according to project managers.
Units come partially furnished with a range and oven, refrigerator and freezer, and a garbage disposal. Monthly rent includes water, electricity and sewer, while tenants are responsible for their own cable and phone service.
Amenities include a community room for recreational and educational programs, a coin-operated laundry room and an on-site resident manager. The property is entirely smoke-free, and pets are not permitted.
The development is a partnership between Ainahau Vista II LP and the Hawaii Housing Development Corp. A blessing was held in April to mark the opening of the complex.

The Hawai‘i Convention Center announced several management hires. The convention center regularly hosts major meetings and events that support visitor arrivals and tourism in the state.
- Kristie Chang was named regional director of accounts for the East Coast. She brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience, including roles with Vicki Johnson & Associates LLC, Women in Cable Telecommunications, Experient and Envision EMI, as well as consulting work in the Washington, D.C., area.
- Briana Leite-Ah Yo was appointed regional director of accounts for the West Coast. She has over a decade of sales and hospitality experience, including positions at The Modern Honolulu Hotel and as director of operations and industry relations for the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority’s global MCI contract.
- Martha Fontana-Kwon was selected as director of security and guest services. She has more than 25 years with the Honolulu Police Department and additional security experience in hospitality and at a private K-12 school in Hawai‘i.
