Hawaii governor candidates are laying out their priorities ahead of the Aug. 8 primary, where Gov. Josh Green faces three other Democrats as he seeks a second and final term in November. The primary ballot also includes two Republicans competing against each other and four nonpartisan contenders.
All candidates received a questionnaire asking how they would tackle some of the toughest responsibilities of the state’s top executive office. The survey covered restoring public trust in the Legislature after a difficult year, improving housing affordability, addressing the costs of climate change and whether they back using LNG as a bridge fuel while pursuing renewable energy targets.
Responses, when provided, are linked by each candidate’s official ballot name in alphabetical order. Additional responses submitted before the election will be added.
