Ronna McDaniel says Democrats will take House control

Democrats will take House control, former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel said Tuesday as the midterm calendar enters its final week.

McDaniel noted that Democrats need only a few pickups to flip the chamber and said the numbers point to a likely change in control, according to her assessment. “I think the House, you know with three seats that the Dems need to pick up, is probably going to go to the Democrats,” she said.

Her comments arrive with one week remaining before voters decide competitive races across the country. Control of the House hinges on a handful of battleground districts, and either party could still gain a narrow majority depending on turnout and late-breaking dynamics.

Republicans currently hold a slim edge, but several toss-up contests remain in suburban and swing areas. McDaniel’s remarks reflect growing acknowledgment among GOP strategists that the margin is tight and that small shifts could decide the outcome.

Democrats are targeting districts where incumbents retired or where redistricting and demographic change have tightened the map. Republicans, meanwhile, are defending vulnerable seats while trying to flip a few Democratic-held districts to offset any losses.

For Hawaiʻi voters, the House balance could shape federal funding priorities and national policy debates that affect the islands, including infrastructure, defense spending in the Pacific, and disaster relief resources.

Early voting is underway in many states. Election officials urge voters to confirm polling locations, deadlines, and identification requirements to ensure ballots are counted on time.

Voters can verify registration details and locate official guidance through their state election offices or via resources from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.
