Trump casts his midterm ballot in Florida, telling reporters he supported all Republican candidates on his ballot before departing for a rally in Georgia.
Trump casts his midterm ballot in Florida
The former president and former first lady Melania Trump voted at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office in West Palm Beach after he spent the morning at his nearby golf club. Wearing an “I Voted” sticker, he confirmed he voted along party lines, saying, “Very much so.” Trump has previously faced criticism for voting by mail despite frequently disparaging that method.
Speaking outside the polling site, he defended an ad from Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy that has drawn heavy criticism for featuring the estranged mother of Democratic rival Dr. Amy Acton. Acton lost custody of her children after her husband, the children’s stepfather, was indicted for raping Acton when she was 12.
Trump also defended directing his administration to file a lawsuit to block certification of Alaska’s U.S. Senate race if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses, citing the presence of another candidate on the ballot with the same name, Dan Sullivan.
Addressing the conflict in Iran, Trump said, “I may have to finish it off. Or maybe they’ll make a deal, but I’m not sure. Either way, we win.”
Melania Trump, who this week was credited with brokering a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in the occupied Ukrainian city of Oleshky to allow humanitarian aid and evacuations, was asked if she might travel to Ukraine. “We will see,” she replied.
In Florida, Trump has endorsed Republican Rep. Byron Donalds in his race against David Jolly, a Republican-turned-independent-turned-Democrat, to succeed term-limited Gov. Ron DeSantis. He has also campaigned for Republican Sen. Ashley Moody, who is running to complete the final two years of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s former Senate term against progressive state lawmaker Angie Nixon.
